Hungary to spend a fortune on new vehicles

Hungary’s Directorate-General for Public Procurement and Supply (KEF) has invited a public procurement tender for the purchase of vehicles for law enforcement and defence organisations, local business daily napi.hu reported on Tuesday. The budget is a hefty 45 billion forints.
The vehicles to be purchased are listed under 14 categories, from small-medium-sized passenger cars to specialised trucks. Special police cars, SUVs and cargo utility vehicles are also included.

Bids may be submitted to each category up to the relevant budget. One condition of bidding is that the bidder has sold vehicles in the category for a specified sum. The thresholds were set between HUF 100 million and HUF 500 million. Average fuel consumption per category were set to between 6.5 litres and 10.5 litres per 100 kilometre.
