Viktor gets a letter from Donald - U.S. President might come to Hungary
Viktor Orbán published the letter he received from US President Donald Trump on 10 December on his Facebook page. You find the copy of the original letter here. Or you can read it here:
"Dear Mr. Prime Minister,
Thank you for your thoughtful letter and for the warm sentiments you shared regarding our recent meeting at the White House. It was a pleasure to host you and your delegation to celebrate the Golden Age of U.S.-Hungarian relations. I look forward to further deepening cooperation in the areas of defense, energy and illegal migration.
Your bold leadership serves as an example for the rest of the world. You have always stood firm to defend the principles that make Hungary such a tremendous place – faith, family, and sovereignty. America admires that kind of courage.
I am grateful for your invitation to visit Hungary. My team will be in touch with regards to my schedule. Thank you once again for your friendship and support. I also want to wish you the best of luck with your electoral campaign in Hungary.
Sincerely,
Donald"
The remark about the President's schedule suggests opennes to the visit, but nothing concrete has been reported in the past month. This does not mean, though, that Trump's trip to Budapest has not been further discussed between the parties.
It is conceivable that Viktor Orbán is laying the groundwork for a specific announcement by posting this letter now.
Viktor Orbán and Donald Trump maintain close ties – the Hungarian leader visited the U.S. President at the White House on 7 November.
