5 years of the Portfolio Green Awards!
The various categories of the Green Awards will be presented for the fifth time, with the joint support of Green Cloud, OTP Bank and Portfolio Group Green Cloud. The aim of the award is to ensure that in 2026, domestic companies can continue to receive worthy recognition for their outstanding sustainability performance, programme or innovation.
The “Green Corporation of the Year” award recognises large enterprises employing at least 250 people that demonstrate leadership across multiple aspects of sustainability. These companies offer green and future-proof products or services, maintain a minimal environmental footprint in their operations, and achieve notable results in corporate social responsibility. They serve as role models for others. This is a company for which sustainability is not a task but the starting point; an organisation that acts consistently and generates real, positive impact. In this category, the focus of the evaluation is on the extent of the positive impact, so applicants are requested to present their corporate activities from the perspective of the impacts achieved.
The “Green Industrial Corporation of the Year” award is dedicated to large enterprises employing at least 250 people that operate in sectors not typically associated with sustainability, industries where the green transition is inherently a long and complex process. These companies have already embarked on this transformation and take pride in the progress they have made so far. They have taken tangible steps in various areas of their business whether in operations, products and services, corporate social responsibility, or in reducing negative environmental impacts. In this category, the depth and scale of change are the main criteria, with the expert jury evaluating the company’s green transition journey as presented in the application.
In this category, small and medium-sized enterprises can apply by presenting their sustainability achievements from the past year. Applications are welcomed from companies employing no more than 250 people that have made a positive impact on society or the environment through their operations, business practices, products and services, or other initiatives and programmes—an impact that is proportionate to their company size. Applicants in this category are expected to showcase not just individual programmes, people, or products, but a broader and more complex set of results, highlighting progress across multiple areas where development has occurred.
In this category, we welcome applications from candidates – regardless of company size – who offer new solutions to existing problems or introduce a fresh perspective in the application of sustainability. Eligible entries may include early-stage but already implemented technological innovations; products that contribute to achieving sustainability goals; services that support a more sustainable economy, society, or mindset from a new angle; as well as long-established technologies, products, or processes that have been applied in a novel way to advance sustainability objectives.
In this category, we are looking for developments, investments, or even investment opportunities that have generated a positive impact for the company, its employees, partners, or users—whether in terms of social, environmental, or corporate governance aspects. In addition, applicants are requested to indicate whether the investment is expected to have generated any external or indirect positive impact on the environment, society, or the economy. Applications in the “Green Investment” category are welcome regardless of company size. Submissions should present the investment in question and clearly explain its relevance and significance from a sustainability perspective.
This category is open to companies that have implemented a programme with primarily social added value. The initiative may be linked to an individual within the company, a department, a product, a programme, or the organisation as a whole. In the “Good Cause” category, we are seeking submissions that present tangible corporate social responsibility results—initiatives that have had a positive impact on a specific social group. Applications should describe the programme itself, the participants involved in its implementation, the affected groups, the intended positive outcomes, and any opportunities for further development of the initiative.
In this category, we recognise the candidate’s dedication, past sustainability efforts, and their social, economic, and environmental added value. We welcome applications or nominations of professionals who are passionate about environmental issues, excel in social responsibility, or whose work serves as a role model in sustainable corporate management. Accordingly, we invite applications from sustainability leaders, as well as colleagues within a company who voluntarily educate, innovate, and contribute to the environment and their teams; those driven by personal conviction, not merely by job requirements. Nominations can also come from external partners, clients, former teachers, current advisors, or anyone whom the nominator believes has demonstrated exemplary work and actions in sustainability over recent years. Please include the candidate’s position, employer, and a summary of their dedication and achievements that justify their nomination for the award.
The award is jointly offered by Green Cloud as the title sponsor, OTP Bank as the category sponsor and Portfolio Group. In addition to the highly prestigious professional recognition award, the winners will be presented in the Portfolio.hu columns following the award ceremony, highlighting the sustainability activities of the programme or company they represent. For the person representing the winning company/programme, Portfolio will provide a VIP ticket to the Sustainable World 2026 conference on 8 September 2026, the full-day professional programme, followed by a standing reception.
The winners for the year 2026 will be selected in each category by a pre-selected professional jury and evaluation committee. The final winners, the best-of-the-best awards, will be selected from a shortlist of 3 to 6 applications in a secret ballot by experts.
The winners will be announced at the Green Awards ceremony on 8 September 2026.
The award is open to companies in any sector that can demonstrate a sustainability project or action that can improve the lives and environment of future and present generations, and that is outstanding in some aspect of sustainability achievements, green goals.
Within a company, there are several categories in which to apply, presenting different programmes, and companies from previous years are also allowed to apply, detailing relevant programmes and achievements from the past year. Exclusion: Winners from last year cannot apply in the same category in which they won an award in 2025.
