Portfolio.hu has always considered it one of its key missions to present how global economic events and local economic policy affect business life. In the current environment, we believe, this mission has just become even more important. Therefore after the hugely successful Budapest Economic Forum we have decided to organise a half-day event: ‘The Forint, the Crisis and Public Debt’. At this conference several international and Hungarian macroeconomic and corporate experts will share their views on the prospects of the Hungarian economy.

Due to the deepening debt crisis and the erosion of confidence in Hungary’s economic policy, the forint eased to record lows in early 2012. However, the progress made in talks between Hungarian authorities, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the European Commission on a financial assistance package for the country have helped make the economic players’ more optimistic. So what can we expect from the Hungarian economy? And which way could the forint go?

At Portfolio.hu’s half-day conference, local and foreign decision makers, economists, analysts and corporate executives will share their views about Hungary’s growth outlook and the possible impacts of the global environment and changes in the local economic policy on the forint.

Among the speakers Portfolio.hu will welcome Tamás Fellegi, minister without portfolio in charge of talks with the IMF and the EU on a credit facility; Júlia Király, Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Hungary (NBH) and David Lubin, Managing Director, Emerging Markets Economics at Citigroup.
