Boost Your Business 2026
Program
Following the most recent parliamentary elections, it has become even more important for businesses to understand the outlook for the Hungarian economy, as well as the economic policy measures taken to date, those that may be taken in the future, and the scope for action. What measures is the government planning in the near future, and how will these reshape market prospects and the day-to-day operations of companies? What growth trajectory can we expect in the coming years? Where will we stand in Europe and on global markets? What will happen to the forint, and how would adopting the euro benefit us?
And let’s not forget the people behind the numbers: as leaders, how can we best help our own teams achieve winning performance?
According to the agreement reached between Hungary and the European Commission in May 2026, in the coming years several thousand billion forints in development funds may become available to the Hungarian economy in the areas of technology development, digitalization, energy efficiency, and innovation. However, the EU funds that may become available will not arrive immediately; new calls for proposals are expected in September–October at the earliest, so the next 2–3 months must be a period for preparing investments, developments, and application documentation.
In the meantime, however, growth remains fragile, while banks are examining companies’ financing structures, risk management, supply chains, governance systems, and ESG compliance based on increasingly complex criteria. The Hungarian banking system is ready to finance SMEs, whether it involves supplementing their own capital, working capital financing, or investment loans, but it requires entrepreneurial demand—in this section, we explore the current state of SME lending and the latest financing sources.
What types of grants and funding opportunities can businesses expect in the next 1–2 years?
Energy-efficient operations and conscious energy management are increasingly becoming one of the most important factors in corporate cost reduction. The most important shift in mindset would be for businesses to understand that electricity is not a product with a fixed price, but rather an input whose conscious use can yield significant savings. SME best practices for planning energy investments and optimizing energy costs and consumption.
