István Madár earned his degree at the Budapest University of Economics in 1997. He has been teaching at the Economic Policy Department, first in the position of assistant lecturer and later as senior lecturer. He spent six years as a journalist and editor at local business daily Világgazdaság between 2000 and 2006, before joining Portfolio.hu where he is now chief macro analyst and columnist. From 2016 he is a adjunct professor at the Corvinus University of Budapest. Member of the Hungarian Economic Association.
