Pályafutását a Pénzügyi Szervezetek Állami Felügyeleténél (PSZÁF) kezdte, 1998-tól a hatóság osztályvezetője, majd főosztályvezetője volt. 1998 és 1999 között a Befektető-védelmi Alap (BEVA) igazgatósági tagjaként tevékenykedett. 2004-től főosztályvezető, majd 2006-tól a PSZÁF Felügyeleti Igazgatóságának ügyvezető igazgatója. 2006 és 2010 között tagja, állandó meghívottja az Európai Értékpapír-felügyeleti Bizottság (Committee of European Securities Regulators – CESR) és az Európai Bankfelügyelők Bizottsága (Committee of European Banking Supervisors – CEBS) vezető testületeinek, szakmai bizottságainak. 2008-2009 között egyik meghatározó irányítója volt a bankszektort érintő válságkezelésnek. 2010-től tíz évig dolgozott az OTP Csoportnál. Ebben az időszakban lett a montenegrói CKB Bank Igazgatóságának elnöke, ő irányította a bank reorganizációját. Az OTP Csoporton belül betöltött több vezetői pozíciója után 2016. június 8. és 2018. augusztus 31. között az OTP Ingatlan Befektetési Alapkezelő Zrt. elnök-vezérigazgatói, 2016. szeptemberétől 2018. augusztus 31-ig az OTP Alapkezelő Zrt. Igazgatóságának elnöki pozícióját töltötte be. 2017 és 2020 között az OTP Ingatlan Befektetési Alapkezelő Zrt. Igazgatóságának elnöke volt. 2017-2018-ban az OTP Bank első jelentős leánybanki integrációját irányította Horvátországban. 2018. szeptember 10-től az OTP Ingatlan Zrt. Felügyelőbizottságának elnöke volt. 2018. szeptember 1-én az OTP Bank általános vezérigazgató-helyettesének nevezték ki. 2019-től 2020. július 20-ig az OTP Ingatlan Zrt. Igazgatóságának elnöke, valamint az OTP Csoport horvát leánybankjának felügyelőbizottsági tagja volt. 2019. decemberétől az OTP Csoporthoz tartozó, az első Európai Központi Bank által felügyelt leánybankjának, a szlovén SKB Bank Igazgatóságának elnöke volt. 2020. július 20-ig töltötte be az OTP Bank Nyrt. általános vezérigazgató-helyettesi pozícióját. 2020. október 30-tól az MKB, a Budapest Bank és a Takarékbank fúzióját irányító Magyar Bankholding Zrt. Igazgatóságának elnöke. 2021. január 1-től az MKB Bank elnök-vezérigazgatója, 2022. január 1-től a Magyar Bankholding elnök-vezérigazgatójaként irányítja a Budapest Bank, az MKB Bank és a Takarékbank egyesülését. A pénzintézetek leányvállalataiban igazgatósági, illetve felügyelőbizottsági elnök (MBH Befektetési Alapkezelő Zrt., MBH Befektetési Bank Zrt., Fundamenta Lakáskassza Zrt., Euroleasing Zrt., Budapest Lízing Zrt., Euroleasing Ingatlan Zrt., Solus Capital Zrt.). Mindemellett az MKB Bank által 2022-ben a társadalmi felelősségvállalás jegyében alapított MKB Bank a Művészet Támogatásáért és Fejlesztéséért Alapítvány Kuratóriumának elnöke. 2023. májusától a hármas fúzió nyomán létrejövő MBH Bank elnök-vezérigazgatója. 2023. május 19-től a Magyar Bankszövetség elnökségi tagja. 2024. augusztus 20-án a Magyar Érdemrend parancsnoki keresztjével tüntették ki. 2024. novemberétől a Pécsi Tudományegyetemet fenntartó Universitas Quinqueecclesiensis Alapítvány elnöke.
