Spar to build new plant in Hungary
The new facility to be built at the Üllő-based logistics centre of Spar Magyarország Kereskedelmi Kft. will produce mayonnaise salads and sandwiches.
There are 105 Spar and Interspar units where customers can buy cold sandwiches and salads. The company has decided to be producing these products in a separate facility, the Spar ENJOY! Convencience plant, communication chief Márk Maczelka said.
The construction of the 1,500-square-metre plant started in July this year and is to be completed by early 2018. The budget of the greenfield investment is some HUF 1.2 billion, of which the technology and the equipment cost HUF 250 million. The facility will operate with two packaging lines. Spar will carry out the investment from its own resources, and the new plant is expected to create 50 new jobs in its initial phase.
The plant will produce in different packaging 15 types of mayonnaise-based salads and 15 types of sandwiches from the spring of 2018, but the choice will be gradually expanded later on. The short-term goal of the company is to supply the country’s each Spar, CitySpar and Interspar stores with the products manufactured at the plant in Üllő.
