Top pay makes Switzerland No. 1 for expats

Portfolio
Switzerland is now the world’s top-ranked destination for expatriates, Bloomberg reported citing a new HSBC study.
The average Swiss salary of $111,587 is 47% higher than the $75,966 mean pay package across the 33 nations surveyed by HSBC in the 12th edition of their annual expat country ranking. Seven out of 10 expats said they had more disposable income after moving to Switzerland.

Switzerland has now knocked Singapore, which had been heading the list for the past four years, off its perch. Other winners this year included Turkey, which improved 15 positions to 7th, and Spain, which rose from 13th to fourth.

The top 10 countries for expats are:
  • Switzerland
  • Singapore
  • Canada
  • Spain
  • New Zealand
  • Australia
  • Turkey
  • Germany
  • United Arab Emirates
  • Vietnam
