BYD (Build Your Dreams), the world's number one new energy vehicles (NEV) maker and manufacturer of power batteries, has announced its initial two dealer partners in Hungary. Wallis Motor – an AutoWallis Group retailer – located in South Pest, and Duna Autó in North Buda, will open state-of-the-art showrooms, showcasing the European range of BYD's cutting-edge electric vehicles.

The partnership also highlights BYD's commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences and professional sales, marketing, and after-sales support in the Hungarian market. Hungary is an important market for BYD as the company has a Battery-Electric bus factory in Komárom since 2017.

BYD plans to bring three full-electric passenger cars in 2023:

  • BYD ATTO 3, a spacious C-segment SUV,
  • BYD DOLPHIN, an agile and versatile C-hatchback, and
  • BYD SEAL, a sporty and dynamic D-Sedan.

A nationwide marketing campaign, aimed at bolstering the brand's launch, is scheduled to commence in the beginning of October, with pricing details to be unveiled as part of the introduction.

Founded in 1995 as a rechargeable battery maker, BYD now boasts a diverse business scope covering automobiles, rail transit, new energy, and electronics, with over 30 industrial parks in China, the United States, Canada, Japan, Brazil, Hungary, and India. Its new energy vehicle footprint now covers 6 continents, over 70 countries and regions, and more than 400 cities. Listed in both Hong Kong and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges, the company is a Fortune Global 500 enterprise.

At his latest investor day, AutoWallis also addressed the rise of Chinese manufacturers. In 2022, China will export 3.2 million cars, 522,000 of which will be destined for the EU market, but only a part of this will be Chinese-owned OEMs, while Chinese companies are setting up manufacturing capacities in Europe, which are both competitors and potential partners, said AutoWallis CEO Gábor Ormosy.
