Thyssenkrupp's international reorganisation to affect Hungary too
Last year, the company announced a EUR 150 million cost reduction programme, which includes reducing its global workforce by around 1,800 and its Hungarian workforce by almost 80. Although new recruitment has been temporarily suspended, around 100 new positions will be advertised later in Budapest in global business support areas.
The reorganisation only affects the Budapest site, home to the E/E Competence Centre, which carries out internationally significant developments, such as steering servo technologies for autonomous driving systems, and the newly established EMC laboratory. Having been operating for 26 years, the centre is now among the world leaders in this field, employing 1,300 highly qualified engineers.
The plants in Jászfényszaru, Debrecen and Győr, which together employ around 2,000 people, will continue to operate as normal. thyssenkrupp employs more than 3,300 people in Hungary and is one of the country's 100 largest employers. The company has invested HUF 150 billion in Hungary over the past decade.
