Rheinmetall to establish defense industry center in Zalaegerszeg
According to a statement from the Ministry, Szijjártó announced that the German company Rheinmetall would establish a defence industry centre in the city, worth HUF 3.7 billion. The government will provide HUF 560 million in support for this project, which will help to create 80 jobs.
In his speech, he announced that
the purpose of this new facility will be to carry out development and engineering activities related to military vehicles.
He emphasised that the defence industry is the most modern sector, requiring cutting-edge technology, and that its presence creates opportunities for comprehensive modernisation across the entire Hungarian economy, given that it requires numerous suppliers from the electronics, metalworking and chemical industries.
