Gránit Bank hits new records in the third quarter

Gránit Bank closed the third quarter with a standalone profit of HUF 3.9 billion and a consolidated profit of HUF 5.9 billion. The former represents a decline of 8.3% compared to a year earlier, while the latter represents an increase of 3.8%. Business volumes continue to rise sharply, with the company's consolidated balance sheet total now exceeding HUF 1,700 billion, and the bank once again outperforming the sector average, particularly in lending.

In terms of revenues,

  • consolidated interest income rose by 14% in the third quarter compared to the same period last year, but has declined by 2.8% so far this year.
  • Adjusted commission income has been more stable: in the third quarter, it grew by slightly more than 21%, while for the year to date, it grew slightly below this level.

In terms of negative items,

  • adjusted operating costs exceeded the previous year's figures by 17% in the third quarter and by 19% in the year to date, while
  • expected credit losses increased by 18% and 15.5% respectively, but remain extremely low.

So far this year, the bank has paid HUF 2.1 billion in bank tax, HUF 1.3 billion in extra profit tax and HUF 1.0 billion in transaction fees affecting earnings, with a combined negative impact on earnings of 24.5% higher than a year earlier.

As regards business portfolios,

  • customer loans rose by 47% - practically doubled - over the course of a year,
  • customer deposits grew by 10%, and
  • the consolidated balance sheet total exceeded HUF 1,700 billion with an annual growth of 11%.

Based on equity capital, which more than doubled during the year thanks to the stock market listing, the bank's consolidated third-quarter results still represent a return on equity of over 15%.

Commenting on the flash report, Éva Hegedüs, Chairwoman and CEO (pictured on our cover), told Portfolio:

At the end of September 2025, Gránit Bank achieved a pre-tax profit of HUF 16.1 billion and an after-tax profit of HUF 14.5 billion, which is the highest three-quarter profit in the bank's history to date.

She added that Gránit Bank grew significantly faster than the sector average during the same period, maintained its cost efficiency advantage, introduced numerous new products and innovations, and, thanks to the end-to-end digital investment service available since the end of last year, its assets under management are approaching HUF 260 billion. It continues to have an excellent quality portfolio and is actively applying its artificial intelligence-based services in several areas.

Retail deposits grew by 29% compared to the same period last year, compared to an average retail deposit growth of 11.1% in the banking sector. Corporate deposits grew by 10.2% year-on-year, exceeding the sector's average growth of 8.0%. The retail loan portfolio grew by 27.1% year-on-year, far exceeding the market growth of 12.0%. Corporate loans grew by 46.1%, compared to 0.7% for the banking sector.

At the consolidated level, the group's total assets amounted to HUF 1,702 billion, 11.0% higher than a year earlier, equity rose by 68.2%, and assets under management amounted to HUF 3,411 billion, up 13.3% compared to the same period last year, said Éva Hegedüs.
