HUF stabilises vs EUR, yields drop slightly
The HUF has been rather steady versus the EUR compared to sudden shifts it produced in the past days. It mostly moved in a range between 254.00 and 254.50 against the euro on Tuesday, or 10.1%-10.3% above parity in its 30 percent wide flotation band. Major macroeconomic data is not coming out in the rest of the week, and so the forint is to be affected by regional and US events the most.
Yields on the fixed income market went down by 1-6 basis points. The yield of 6-month and 15-year instruments dropped by about 6 bps.
The Government Debt Management Agency (ÁKK) puts HUF 35 billion worth of 6-month discount treasury bills on auction on Wednesday.
The ÁKK received HUF 76 billion worth of bids on HUF 35 billion 3-month T-bills offered today, which signals unfretted interest in Hungarian government papers from investors.
