Hungary Parliament approves new Monetary Council member Bánfi

The Budget Committee of Hungary's Parliament approved the nomination of Tamás Bánfi into the central bank's rate-setting Monetary Council on Tuesday.
Bánfi has been nominated by Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány after Parliament approved a controversial amendment to the Central Bank Act, giving the PM the right to enlarge the Council by four new members.

Bánfi received 15 “yes", 13 “no" votes, with no abstention.
