Hochtief to buy Ferrovial's Budapest Airport really soon

Portfolio
Spain's construction and services group, Ferrovial, expects to finalise a deal to sell Budapest Airport to German construction group Hochtief within the next 10 days, a source familiar with the situation told Reuters.
"It is probably going to be in the next week to 10 days," the source said Thursday.

"Anything would need Hungarian government approval so that is the joker in the pack."

Ferrovial unit, BAA Plc, bought 75% minus one share in Budapest Airport Rt, for the right to operate the airport for 75 years and some related assets, in December, for HUF 464.5 billion.

The source confirmed a report in the Daily Telegraph newspaper, which said Hochtief might pay around the same amount BAA paid for the airport.

Hochtief was runner-up in Budapest Airport's December privatisation tender. It filed a lawsuit late last year against Hungary's State Privatisation Agency (ÁPV) after losing to BAA but it later chose to call off the legal action.

Hungarian media have suggested Ferrovial may sell Budapest Airport since winning a 10.1 billion pound (USD 18.8 billion) bidding war earlier this year to buy BAA, the owner of London's Heathrow Airport.
