Hungary to close Malév sell-off financially in March - paper
The paper, citing unofficial sources, speculates that AirBridge will pay HUF 250 million for a nearly 100% package of Malév and will also assume the carrier's debt of around HUF 30 bn. In practice this would be carried out via moving some fixed assets, like aircraft, into a state-owned asset management firm and have the new owner lease these equipment back.
"We will put the equipment to back up the debt and Malév will pay the state for using these assets," Finance Minister János Veres said on 2 February.
Veres declined to say how much these assets are worth or what exactly will be removed.Business weekly HVG said the assets would be available for AirBridge at residual value after 10 years and the deal could in theory be closed before 2020.
