Hungary in GDP fever this week (14-18 May)

Portfolio
First-quarter GDP figure, set to be released on Tuesday, is undoubtedly in the focus of attention this week in Hungary, but there are other macro data investors may sink their teeth into.
Analysts expect Hungary's economic growth at 2.3-2.4% (adjusted) in Q1, against 3.4% in the fourth quarter of 2006.

The central bank (NBH) will publish preliminary financial accounts for households and general government on Wednesday and wage statistics will be published on Thursday. The latter is highly important in respect of the interest rate outlook. On Thursday, the Finance Ministry will hold a press conference on Thursday on budget processes in April.

Elsewhere in the region, investors in Poland will keep an eye on inflation (for April on Tuesday) and GDP growth in Slovakia (for Q1 on Tuesday).
