Hungary's T-Mobile network partly down, software to blame (2)

A mass of T-Mobile mobile subscribers in Hungary are experiencing difficulties using the network, Portfolio.hu has learned on Friday. The are facing problems when trying to launch and/or receive calls and text messages often cannot be sent or they simply vanish into thin air.
The service in certain cells is faltering due to maintenance.
Some handsets with pre-paid cards cannot connect to the network, and while other sets can initiate calls, the answer is: “The number you have dialled is unavailable".
T-Mobile numbers cannot be reached from the networks of either Vodafone or Pannon. Outgoing calls from T-Mobile to other networks seem to be fine - if network connection is made that is.
At T-Mobile’s call centre the automated voice says the operation of the mobile network is unsteady due to maintenance. The company suggests clients to turn their handsets off and then back on again. This has not worked for us, though.
The mobile carrier was unable to give further information, as the mobile numbers of the officials in charge cannot be connected either - yes, their mobile network code (MNC) is also 30.

It was an “unexpected software problem" that caused disturbances in the receipt of calls in the mobile network of Magyar Telekom in Hungary on Friday morning, the telco group has said in a statement.
A large number of T-Mobile subscribers were unable to make calls within the network, as the called party’s line signalled that the handset was turned off, the number was unavailable or switched to voice mail.
Magyar Telekom said the disturbance was caused by an “unexpected software problem" that occurred during a scheduled maintenance job during the night. The service is being gradually restored, the company added.

The service has been fully restored by 15:30 local time. In case of remaning calling problems, the service provider suggests turning the handsets off and back on. As a compensation for the technical glitch, MTel offers 10 minutes of talk time free of charge within the T-Mobile network. The details are to be published later.
