System crash cause difficulties at Hungary's K&H Bank (2)
(Updates with new info)
Clients of Hungary's K&H Bank, the local unit of Belgium's KBC Group, are experiencing problems in the system of the financial institution, Portfolio.hu has learned on Monday. Last week, a software problem caused a crash in the network of T-Mobile, the mobile unit of Magyar Telekom.A central server crash is causing difficulties at K&H Bank, Portfolio.hu has learned on Monday.
Internet banking is down or struggling, several units are in disarray and some of the bank’s ATMs are also on the blink.
A client complained that a purchase made this morning has apparently been charged twice, while others experienced service disturbances at two units (at Deák tér (square) and at Flórián tér). The bank’s TeleCenter has also been unavailable for some clients.
According to Portfolio.hu’s information, the balance of accounts is indeterminable at several K&H units and occasionally ATMs give false information in this regard, as well.
K&H employees said the problems stemmed from a server stoppage and that difficulties will be resolved in the afternoon at best but the services could possibly be back to normal no sooner than Tuesday.
Update!
At K&H’s Flórián tér unit (3rd district) there was a printed notification on the queuing machine saying some account services may be made only at the home branch. One of the bank assistants suggested calling K&H TeleCenter.
The main menu of the K&H TeleCenter is functioning property, but after entering it says the waiting time for retail clients should be longer than usual.
A TeleCenter operator told us their system has already been restored and e-bank services should be back to normal by 3-4 P.M.
Portfolio.hu has also contacted the bank's communications department that promised to give an update as soon as it can.
Update 2
At 14:45 CET K&H said in a press release that its IT department is treating the problem as a priority and has been working to fully restore the system every since the technical difficulties arose today.
It noted that all K&H branches are fully operational with every service being available. Until the problems are resolved, e-bank services will be inaccessible. The clients continue to have full access to their deposits via ATMs and point of sale transactions also operate seamlessly.
Should clients bump into other kinds of problems, they should report these to the bank at the branches or via K&H’s TeleCenter.
“According to our present knowledge, no client has suffered material damages whatsoever and their deposits remain safe," the bank said in a statement.
