Ryanair to "take over the world - starting with Budapest Airport"

“You are invited to attend a press conference, hosted by Ryanair’s Michael O’Leary [...] on Thursday (30 Aug) [...], to discuss Ryanair’s plans to take over the world - starting with Budapest Airport," the no-frills carrier said in an email.

We believe the subject of the press conference will be Ryanair’s winter schedule, which would be quite timely to make public considering that the winter season starts at the end of October and the airline needs to fill up its flights.

Ryanair sent an invitation via email to media representatives already two weeks ago with the same wording but the event was eventually postponed. Only the attachment to that one was titled “winter schedule", hence our guess about the content of tomorrow’s press conference.

Ryanair opened its Budapest base on 17 February this year, right on the ashes of the defunct Malév. The airline brought five aircraft to Budapest, from where it flies to about 30 destinations. The carrier expects to carry two million passengers to and from Budapest this year. At the end of June its counter stood at 500,000.

The Irish low-cost airline said about its winter schedule in early August that from 12 November a new destination will be added, namely Frankfurt-Hahn, adding that it will raise the number of weekly flights to Eindhoven to 7 from 4 and it will fly 21 times to London instead of 14 as of 12 November.
