Hungary market regulator chief urges level-headed consideration of merger with c.bank
Szász told the paper in an interview published on Thursday that the competent authorities should consider the current state, a full merger of the two institutions or different versions of a partial fusion with a cool head and assessing both the advantages and the risks involved.
After such analysis, a decision could be taken on the highest political level, i.e. not at the PSZÁF nor at at the central bank, which mutually respect each other’s independence. Szász added that “whatever reshuffle is to be made it will not be up to our co-operation and stance for sure."
