Another extraordinary day in Hungary's bond market

Portfolio
After hitting a snag last week and weak sales yesterday, Hungary's government bond market has witnessed major buyback auctions on Wednesday - that is, transactions allowing investors to get rid of exposure in Hungarian securities before the actual maturity date. Today's repurchase auction has been the largest since a massive transaction carried out by Templeton in May 2014 - although it soon became clear that Hungary's angel investor had considerations other than reducing exposure in mind, (i.e. reinvestment in other securities).
The day's events in a nutshell

Hungary's State Debt Management Agency has held three reverse auctions on Wednesday with bids totaling HUF 85.7 billion - an extremely high figure, compared with other 2014 data. This, in itself, is a noteworthy phenomenon, and so is the fact that the issuer not only received but also accepted a large amount of bids (HUF 72 billion).
