Hungary c.bank keeps rates on hold as expected
Most of the analysts in a Portfolio poll expect the key policy rate to remain at the current level (1.35%) by the end of 2017 at least.
As the January CPI undershot analysts’ expectations and because the forint has appreciated markedly over the last few days, there is a possibility that the central bank will change its rhetoric with respect to possible rate reductions. The market now awaits the MPC's official statement which will be published at 2 P.M. GMT today.
The forint has not reacted to the in line decision and remains close to its 9-month high at around 307.50 versus the euro.
