Hungarian EcoMin Varga to make key announcement on Tuesday
The press conference will start at 10:00 CET at the headquarters of Porsche Hungária.
Varga announced already last November that the cabinet plans to make the use of online cash registers mandatory in in services, such as garages, taxis, gyms, wellness facilities and currency exchanges.
The particular choice of location for the presser suggests that online cash registers will be introduced in garages too.
There were reports last week that the introduction of online cash registers in additional services will be carried out in two stages.
Hairdressers and beauticians are off the hook, according to a report by Magyar Idők (Hungarian Times) in December 2015.

Under the measure another 30 000 to 50 000 new online cash registers would be put to use. In the first phase, starting this September, there would be a one-month trial run and the system would go live in October for service providers that already have the capacity to use regular online cash registers. The second deadline, which is unknown at this point, would be applied on those that need developments before implementing the new technology, e.g. cab drivers.
Based on previous remarks the services where the government could make the use of online cash registers mandatory are the following:- casinos,
- garages,
- vehicle parts dealers;
- gyms;
- vending machines (food, drinks);
- drycleaners;
- taxi drivers;
- discos;
- cash exchange services
