Hungarian gov't helps Andy Vajna's online casino plans by new law
Under a new law amendment passed recently in a bid to combat illegal gambling, Hungarian authorities may block the transfer of funds from the gamblers’ account to the account of the organiser of illegal gambling operations. According to the official communication, the objective was to create order.
The new bill was passed into law by MPs in an extraordinary procedure. András Tállai, state secretary at the Economy Ministry, argued that quick action was necessary because those running illegal gambling operations “have already created such a competitive advantage for themselves that every day counts."

- It came to light in early 2016 that Las Vegas Casino Diamond Ltd., an interest of Andy Vajna, signed a contract with Finnplay, a Finnish gambling platform operator, to bring to life the first online casino in Hungary.
- In March, the company signed a deal with Ezugi, a developer of online gaming sites.
- In May, the Las Vegas Casino group registered the vegas.hu domain.
- In the summer, the company inked its third deal with London-based iSoftBet, a leading online and mobile casino games provider.
According to the paper, the CEO of Vegas Casino Diamond (LVCD) Ltd. plans to launch Hungary’s first legal online casino at vegas.hu already this year.
The end of the year is pretty close, but - luckily for Andy Vajna - the Hungarian Parliament, in which the ruling Fidesz party has majority, was quicker than usual at creating legislation that paves the way for the online casino which has yet to be finished. It looks like coincidences do exist.
