New shuttle bus to be launched between downtown Budapest and airport
Getting to the airport and reaching the downtown area from the airport has been a public transport nightmare for years. It is not easy to get on the subway, change to other means of transportation with luggage, but it would be a huge step forward for the image of the country if tourists arriving to Hungary saw Deák square in the downtown area first instead of the Kőbánya-Kispest train station and Metro Line 3, which leave something to be desired, to say the least.
The BKK is yet to reveal details about the new shuttle, which it is supposed to do at a press conference on Tuesday.
Transport blog Fonódó has already learned about the schedule of the new shuttle, which is supposed to be launched on 8 July and leave every 30 minutes from Deák square between 4 A.M. and 11:30 P.M. and from Terminal 2 at the airport between 5 A.M. and 0:30 A.M. every day of the week.
A one-way ticket will cost HUF 900, the price of about three normal tickets. Kálvin square will be another stop and Astoria (a hub for several buses) a third, but the latter will be a stop only for the first few shuttles at dawn.
