The approval rating of Hungary’s ruling Fidesz party within eligible voters has been hovering in a tight range between 30% and 32% for months, but October’s readings show that the governing party was the winner of the autumn. According to the average approval rating of three main pollsters watched by Portfolio, Fidesz stands at 36%, the highest level of the last three years.
Another finding of the polls conducted by Medián, Tárki and ZRI in October is that the popularity of the Socialist Party (MSZP) has dropped significantly. The opposition party stands at 8%, which is the lowest average ever recorded. The approval rating for far-right nationalist party Jobbik came in at 11%, which is the lowest reading of the last 3.5. years and the end of an ascending trend. Green party LMP and the Democratic Coalition (DK) stand around 4% among eligible voters, which - considering the expected turnout - would give them some seats in Parliament. Support for smaller parties remains under2%.
