Taxi fares may be raised 10% in Budapest
The Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry has endorsed the price hike endeavours of taxi drivers. Its newly appointed President, Gábor Csoltó, told the portal that the Budapest Municipality has acknowledged their final proposal for a 10% fare hike, and it could put it on the agenda of its general meeting next month. There is a “good chance" that the new fares will take effect as of June.
“While a plaster was able to even double prices over a year, a taxi driver was in no position to do so therefore the competitiveness of the service decreased, Csoltó has given an example on why it is difficult to hail a taxi in Budapest these days.
