Shortly after an extraordinary announcement by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, the forint suffered a serious blow and spiked to 356.60 to the euro and to 327.80 against the USD, both new all-time lows, then recovered by two notches.

Forint keeps on weakening - 13:22
The fall of the forint has not stopped even after noon and the Hungarian currency is now over 351 versus the euro, more than 1% weaker than its closing level on Tuesday.

The forint has been flirting with the new psychological level at 350 since opening and it has just set a new all-time low at 351.08 versus the euro.

New all-time low against the USD too - 10:22
The forint's free-fall in the morning stopped at 349.60 to the euro and at 319 against the US dollar. The crosses are currently at 348.20 and 317.70, respectively. This means the forint set new lows not only versus the euro but also agianst the USD.
