The 48 new confirmed infections are the lowest figure in the past two weeks, indicating that the epidemic is easing off in Hungary.

All 12 victims yesterday were above 70 years of age. The raw mortality rate is now at 11.2%, likely due to the low discovery rate.

By the end of April, half of all cases have been identified in Budapest and two out of three in Central Hungary. On Wednesday, there were no new confirmed cases in 11 counties, and the highest numbers were in Komárom-Esztergom (8) and Zala (5) counties.
