Central banker Barnabás Virág nominated for MNB Deputy Governor
Bertalan Havasi said that under the Central Bank Act, Parliament's economic committee will hold a hearing on the new Deputy Governor on 9 June.
Virág will replace Márton Nagy who unexpectedly resigned last week. Virág was asked to temporarily take his post, and it seems this assignment will be permanent after all.
Nagy was seen as the man responsible for many of the Hungarian central bank's complex policy measures in the past five years. Virág is Executive Director responsible for monetary policy, forecasting, foreign reserves and risk management.
