Budapest accounts for 39% of active cases, 60% of coronavirus-related fatalities and 48% of recovered patients. There are currently 184 COVID-19 patients in hospital, of whom 14 require artificial ventilation.

Last Wednesday, Hungary terminated the state of emergency, but a state of epidemic preparedness entered into effect. Hungary was among the fortunate ones that managed to prevent the spread of coronavirus on a massive scale, but some protective measures remain in place. It is still compulstory to wear face masks in stores and on public transport, for instance, but a scarf or bandanna covering the mouth and the nose are also accepted. The 9 to 12 shopping slot for the elderly (people of over 65 years of age) has been cancelled, though.
