Chairman of the committee Erik Bánki (of the ruling Fidesz party) noted that under a mandate by Parliament the Economic Committee has the right to nominate members to the Monetary Council. He confirmed Portfolio's earlier report that Gusztáv Báger has resigned effective 31 December 2020 which necessitated the appointment of a new member as of next year. Báger was appointed for a six-year term on 6 July 2015.

Portfolio was the first to report that the MPC unexpectedly has a vacancy and that Báger would be followed by Gottfried.
