COVID-19 in Hungary: 1,419 new cases on Sunday

Hungarian authorities confirmed 1,419 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Sunday, increasing the total since March to 343,656. The death toll is now at 10,725 after the disease claimed the lives of 77, mostly elderly or chronic, patients in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is 128,959. There are 5,065 coronavirus patients being treated in hospital, with 367 of them on ventilators. the official government website said.

The number of new cases yesterday was lower than the December peaks, but case numbers are fluctuating and the seven-day moving average is currently increasing, without a clear trend.

The number of daily fatalities also shows a slight decrease, while 77 is still a high figure.

The number of active cases also shows a falling trend, while the number of new cases registered in the past 14 days is rising at present.

There are 5,065 coronavirus patients in hospital, and 367 of them are receiving artificial ventilation.

There were 12,657 tests applied in the past 24 hours, 11.3% of which came back positive. The number of people in quarantine rose by 983 yesterday.
