April new car sales up 70% yr/yr in Hungary
The Hungarian car market picked up in April as 10,521 new cars were registered, 70% more than a year earlier. In January-April, 42,714 new cars were sold, a 9.9% increase over the first four months of 2020.
It should be noted, however, that the coronavirus epidemic already made its effect felt last April, resulting in a huge plunge in new car sales in Hungary, so the base is very low.
According to a statement by the Hungarian Vehicle Importers Association (MGE), the weight of new sales shifted towards gasoline-powered cars from diesel. The market of electric cars remains very small in volume compared to the whole, and its growth also slowed down.

No stopping Suzuki
According to the latest statistics of Datahouse,
Suzuki sold the most cars in April, 1,551, for a market share of 14.74%.
Toyota was second in the manufacturer ranking with 1,037 new cars sold and a 9.9% market share, followed by Ford, Skoda and Kia.

In April, 2,270 new small utility vehicles were registered, 61% more than a year earlier. Ford remained in the lead in the segment with 757 SUVs sold for a 33% share of the market. Fiat was second with 270 SUVs sold and Toyota was third with 215 units in April.
As for large utility vehicles, 419 were registered in April, a nearly 174% increase over last April. The number of new buses registered last month was 8, 77% less than a year earlier, while motorbike registrations were 32% higher at 550.
