Hungarian Parliament to wait until the autumn session to discuss Sweden's NATO accession

On 13 July, Hungary indicated its support for Sweden's application to join NATO, which could be ratified in the autumn.

A member of the ruling party said there was no urgency to call an extraordinary session of parliament for an earlier approval.

Zsolt Németh, the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, stressed that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who has previously delayed Sweden's accession to NATO, intends to resume the ratification process when the parliament reconvenes in the autumn.

We will resume work in mid-September,
