Price of petrol to be lowered in Hungary

Hungarian energy group Mol is to trim the wholesale gross list price of petrol by HUF 3 per litre on Friday (9 February), while the price of diesel will not be changed, fuel price tracking site holtankoljak.hu reported on Wednesday.

With the planned change, we should find the following retail prices (on average) at the pumps as of 9 February:

  • 95-octane petrol: HUF 600/litre 
  • Diesel: HUF 640/litre

Fuel prices have gone up a lot since the end of 2023, though. You may get some consolation looking at end-2022 prices, but if you look further down the road, the smile will quickly turn into a frown.
