First insurance company meets Márton Nagy's expectations
In April 2025, the Ministry of Economic Development held discussions with representatives of several insurance companies regarding preventing further increases in the consumer price index. During the consultation, the role and responsibility of the insurance sector - as an industry influencing the consumer price index - was highlighted in terms of possibilities for moderating inflation.
Previously, the ministry had examined possibilities for reducing the consumer price index in the food, banking and telecommunications sectors, where voluntary measures targeting this goal have already been implemented.
KÖBE Central European Mutual Insurance Association, in alignment with the Ministry of National Economy's intentions, is voluntarily reducing the minimum premium for mandatory motor third-party liability insurance for passenger cars by 30% as its first step to contribute to the aforementioned efforts.
The insurer will introduce the new applicable tariff on 1 July 2025. The modification affects both existing and new contracts.
