Hungary EcoMin holds new talks with drugmakers

On Monday, Hungary's Economy Minister Márton Nagy held another round of negotiations with pharmaceutical manufacturers regarding a potential state intervention in the price of non-subsidised medicines. The minister announced this on his Facebook page, writing: 'Towards an agreement...', suggesting that the parties may be moving closer to finding common ground.

Márton Nagy recently proposed the need to regulate the prices of non-subsidised medicines, and has since begun consulting with industry representatives. Negotiations continued on Monday with Dávid Greskovich (President of MAGYOSZ, the Hungarian Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association), Katalin Szalóki (Director of the Association of Innovative Pharmaceutical Manufacturers), Dávid Sipos (Vice President of MAGYOSZ) and Zsuzsanna Beke (MAGYOSZ board member) in attendance.

The fact that the Economy Minister chose to share the news under the title 'Towards an agreement...' suggests that the parties involved may be reaching an agreement, meaning that

state intervention might not be necessary, as the sector could voluntarily commit to reducing prices to some extent.
