BYD embarks on another investment in Hungary
According to a statement by the ministry, the minister announced at the groundbreaking ceremony for BYD's new electric bus manufacturing plant in Komárom that the Chinese company is investing HUF 32 billion, with the government providing HUF 3.1 billion (EUR 8 million) in support, which will help create 620 new jobs.
The project will establish a research and development test laboratory, tripling the plant's capacity and enabling the production of 1,250 electric buses and trucks each year.
Szijjártó recalled that BYD had announced three significant investments in Hungary within the space of a year and a half. First, the company began construction of its first European car factory in Szeged. Then, it decided to bring its European headquarters and R&D centre to Budapest. Now, they are starting to build a new bus manufacturing plant in Komárom.
