New direct flight route to be launched from Budapest to overseas

The flight service will operate between 6 June and 24 October 2026,

connecting Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport with Toronto Pearson International Airport.

Air Canada will operate the route using a 787-9 Dreamliner wide-body aircraft, offering passengers a choice of three travel classes.

Currently, almost 90,000 air passengers travel between the two countries each year, and Toronto offers convenient connections to North and South America, as well as the Caribbean. Toronto is Air Canada's largest hub, with 1,500 daily flights to 195 destinations.

Since the state acquired Budapest Airport, launching long-haul flights from Budapest has been a stated objective. While scheduled flights already operate to several Chinese cities, the government's goal is to establish American destinations too, leveraging co-owner Vinci's connections. Last month, the airport announced the launch of a direct route between Budapest and Philadelphia.
