Wizz Air to shut down Vienna base
The discount airline is gradually withdrawing from Vienna Airport. As a first step, two aircraft will be transferred to other bases and flights to Bilbao and London Gatwick will be discontinued when the winter schedule begins on 26 October.
The remaining three aircraft will be withdrawn from Vienna-Schwechat Airport by 15 March 2026. This will also result in the discontinuation of all routes operated from this airport.
The airline will support passengers affected by the cancellations,
offering rebooking or refund options to those who have purchased tickets for cancelled flights.
Employees based in Vienna have been offered the opportunity to transfer to other locations within the Wizz Air network.
