Hungarian labour market remains strong in the summer too
Between June and August 2025, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) recorded 4,679,000 people in employment, a figure that remained relatively stable compared to previous months. However, this figure is 36,000 lower than in the same period last year.

Adjusting for those in public works and Hungarians temporarily employed abroad, the number of people in work in the domestic primary labour market was 4,503,000.
This is 50,000 less than the figure recorded for the same period last year.
In other words, while the labour market has not deteriorated further in recent months, a downward trend has emerged over the past year.
The number of unemployed people was 217,000 during the summer, representing no significant change. This corresponded to an unemployment rate of 4.4%. There were 115,000 unemployed men and 102,000 unemployed women.

- On average, job seekers spent 11.1 months looking for work.
- Of those who were unemployed, 45.6% searched for less than three months,
- while 29.6% had been unable to find a job for at least a year.
