Orbán announces the month when the first installment of the 14th-month's pension will be paid!
"Over the past few years, we have successfully introduced a 13th-month pension. Now, the time has come to take another big step forward by introducing a 14th-month pension," the Prime Minister announced, revealing the final decision.
In practice, this means that in February 2026, everyone will receive their regular pension, their 13th-month pension, and one week's worth of their 14th-month pension, i.e., a quarter of it.
In the coming years, the 14th-month pension will increase gradually, by one week's worth per year, meaning that the full 14th-month benefit will be built up over four years, said Viktor Orbán.
According to Portfolio's calculations, the average pension increased to HUF 250,000 in November 2025. Thanks to the expected 3.6% pension increase in January, this figure could rise to HUF 259,000 next year. Based on this, pensioners will receive an average of HUF 583,000 in February, including the 13th-month pension and the first quarter of the 14th-month pension.
In terms of the 2026 budget, the first quarter of the 14-month pension could lead to an additional HUF 150 billion in expenditure.
