This is how many guest workers will be allowed in Hungary in 2026

As in previous years, the ministerial decree regulates the issuance of guest worker residence permits, residence permits for employment purposes and residence permits for setting up an investment in 2026.

The Economy Minister

reduced the guest worker quota from 65,000 in 2024 to 35,000 in 2025, setting it at the same figure for 2026.

According to the Ministry, the quotas have resulted in Hungary having the lowest proportion of third-country nationals in employment (2.6%) of all the Visegrad countries.
