Hungarian energy group begins its biggest solar project
MET Kabai Solar Park Kft., a holding of the MET group, is building the plant on the lot of the town's former sugar factory. The state-of-the-art facility will have more than 97,000 solar panels and an expected lifetime of 25 years.
We are very proud to begin our next solar investments less than a year after our first solar plant began operation,
managing director Gábor Molnár, also head of renewables business development at MET Asset Management, said.
Hungary has set the goal of more than 100 MW installed capacity in solar parks, of which Dunai Solar Park and the new Kaba facility will already account for more than 60 MW.
The MET group has significant ambitions regarding renewables in the CEE region but also considers traditional assets valuable investment targets in order to guarantee a diversified energy supply. Regionally, MET aims to have a geographically and technologically diverse asset portfolio of several hundred megawatts, and is currently active in Serbia, Croatia and Romania as well.
