MVM drills its tenth well in the East Hungarian gas fields
In the Sarkad area of Békés county, the drilling of the fourth new well has been recently completed and is currently being tested. The drilling of yet another well has kicked off recently.
At Nyékpuszta, four wells have been brought on production since February 2023, including one previously drilled. The volume of natural gas brought to the surface has now exceeded 100 million cubic metres and 135,000 cubic metres of light oil have been produced.
MVM drilled four wells in Berettyóújfalu, in Hajdú-Bihar county, by February this year. The first one came on stream in June and has so far produced four million cubic metres of natural gas, while the second is currently being tested.
Domestic gas use has fallen from the pre-international energy crisis level of 10-11 billion cubic metres per year to close to 8 billion cubic metres. Natural gas has a major role to play in a successful green transition as a balancing energy source for weather-dependent renewables, the ministry said in the FB post.
The ministry has announced today that it will launch hydrocarbon exploration and production concessions in eight new regions, before the details of the ten-year network development plan of the Hungarian Gas Transmission Company (FGSZ) were revealed the other day, including the expected Hungarian gas production trajectory for the next 10 years:
