E.On would not sell Hungarian gas package to Gazprom - Chairman

E.On Ruhrgas Chairman Burckhard Bergmann met Hungary's Minister of Economic Affairs János Kóka on Friday and announced that the German utility giant would not attempt to sell a majority stake in the gas unit bought from MOL to Russia's Gazprom.
Gazprom has been eyeing the MOL gas business for some time now, and Bergmann said the sale of a minority package was not impossible, broadsheet Népszabadság reported on Monday.

MOL agreed with E.On Ruhrgas International (ERI) in January to close the partial sale of MOL's midstream gas business on 31 March 2006.

MOL and ERI signed an agreement in November 2004 on the sale of a 75% stake less one share in MOL Földgázellátó Rt. (wholesale, marketing and trading, "WMT") and in MOL Földgáztároló Rt. ("Storage") and 50% stake in Panrusgaz Magyar-Orosz Gázipari Rt ("Panrusgaz").
