Hungary Wizz Air boosts passenger traffic 20% in May

Portfolio
Hungary-based no-frills airline Wizz Air carried 20% more passengers in May 2015 than in the same month last year, the carrier has said. The increase stems mainly from capacity enhancement but the load factor has also improved.
Wizz Air added two new aircraft to its fleet in May this year. The capacity increase helped maintain a double-digit passenger traffic growth, data published on Thursday showed. The low-fare, low-cost airline carried 1.61 million passengers in May, up 20% yr/yr. The number of seats grew by 18% to over 1.8 million, and the load factor also ticked up to 89% from 87.5%.

In the 12 months up to end-May Wizz Air carried 17 million passengers, a 19% rise over the previous one-year period. Its load factor in this period improved by 1.2 percentage points to 86.9%.

Wizz Air shares rose marginally by 0.3% in Thursday’s trading on the London Stock Exchange.
